Each of these plugins would be great choices for your WordPress photography website. However, one clearly is the most trusted over the rest. NextGEN Gallery is soon going to hit 6 million downloads, which is pretty crazy for a WordPress gallery plugin. In addition, many WordPress portfolio themes are supporting the plugin with integration and styling.

There are also many WordPress photography themes with built-in gallery control, if you decided to not use a plugin.

NextGen for me since I first switched my site to WP, in 2010. It’s not without its bugs–sorting images has been weird for some time now and there have been ongoing problems with flash upload–but it makes clean galleries and is relatively easy to use. The Photocrati Media acquisition will hopefully extend and improve this excellent plugin.
