Really helpful article. I just started small Google Ad Words campaign myself for my wedding photography website. But as absolutely newbie to the whole Google advert thing I’m feeling a bit confuse as for example how to shut down the options for CONTENT NETWORK. Or for example when I go to my campaign in the status bar it shows key word relevance POOR and my key words are London Wedding Photographer … and I’m just thinking what more relevant words can I right down when actually I’m a London based photographer. Also you were saying that les money on CPC and more on a daily budget will bring more traffic to the website that is on advert is this right ….. I would appreciate some help with this.
Thanks.

I couldn't have asked for a more rewarding blog. You happen to be always there to give excellent information, going directly to the point for convenient understanding of your subscribers. You're really a terrific professional in this area. Many thanks for always being there for people like me.

I'm just getting my photography blog up and running so I'm not quite at the point where I can invest in Google Adwords yet but am excited to get there and will definitely use your tips for designing my ads when I do. In the meantime, other folks like me who don't have an advertising budget yet might want to check out Street Articles.com. I've been posting articles there for free and have been getting a decent amount of traffic as a result. I've also found the article reviewers to be extremely fast and thorough!

Nice tip, Susan! You know, when you do Adwords, you really need to get inside the head of potential clients and think about what they'll search for. I've always thought that if I were looking for say, a portrait photographer, I would never type "portrait photographer" into a search engine. Way too general. Since I live near Boulder CO, I would punch in "portrait photographers Boulder CO". Get's at your fist campaign above. I think that including geographic terms in almost all of your search strings might be even more effective than geographic target.

I would just like to comment on the Geographic Targeting.

Granted, most of the time someone who lives in Georgia will be searching for local photographers, not photographers in Oregon. However, what about the situation where someone is making their daughter's wedding in Georgia, but they live in Oregon? This is just an example...I am sure there are others.

I have found setting up two separate campaigns works well. In Campaign #1, you would have the search term (among others) "Georgia Photographers". So here, you would appear for anyone searching for a photographer in Georgia, no matter where they lived.

For Campaign #2, set up the Geographic Targeting for Georgia. You don't need the word Georgia in your keyword phrase, just "Photographer" (or more specific keyword terms). Your site would come up for anyone in Georgia searching for "Photographer", even if they do not put in the word Georgia also.

Beyond Google advertising there are other companies being started to help professional photographers maximize the money the make from their shoots, and simplify their business.

Snapizzi recently launched and provides free technology to tag and sell your photos. Digital barcodes automatically capture and manage your photos for sale; you get e-commerce, order, payment and fulfillment with no set-up fees or subscription costs.

And after PSW Snapizzi was featured in Layers Magazine:
