Postcard Digital Camera

I hadn’t heard of disposable digital cameras until I read about them today, now I see the idea is more popular than I imagined! This is a really neat idea though. Imagine you go on holiday and you want to send a postcard to Grandma. The pictures on the postcards never really capture your holiday though do they? So what you do instead is buy one of these babies, take some snaps, pop it in the post and Gran gets to see a slideshow of you all enjoying yourself on vacation.

Stamp of approval for disposable camera – Breaking – Technology – smh.com.au

Calvey’s Snap+Send Postcard, a disposable digital camera, is so light and inexpensive it can be sent in the mail. All it needs is a stamp. “You would buy it at a newsagent or photo developer, take a few shots and, once it’s full, you stick a stamp on it, address it and put it in the postbox,” Calvey says. “Then grandma, or your girlfriend, gets it. They tear open the perforations, fold out a little kick stand on the back and sit it on a bench top. Then it’s as simple as pressing a button and it will go through a slide show of images.”

I have one thing to say against. Mobile phone cameras. Already the postcard is less used nowadays because of text messaging and long distance calls being so much cheaper. As more people have capable phones picture messages are going to be the primary method of sending vacation messages. Don’t think Granddad could handle opening a MMS? What makes you think they could get the head around these any more likely? Actually my Mum and Dad are getting really good with the old modern gadgets, it would probably be them sending them to us.

Satugo Bouncing Ball Camera

A camera designed for throwing?

Satugo the worlds first Bouncing ball camera

Imagine combining your love for bouncing balls and your obsession for taking pictures into one, now it has a name Satugo. Simply Throw Satugo into the motive to catch the moment, where it hits you get a picture, or take air photos by activating the timer before throwing the satugo.

Satugo stands for See Aim Throw CaptUre and GO. I take it “motive” is their way of saying “subject” (victim?).

How bizarre is that? Does look fun though. If anyone finds any pictures taken with it when it becomes available here please let me know!

Perhaps they were inspired by camera tossing

Wireless USB

Here’s an intriguing idea. Wireless Connectivity of USB Devices

While it is based on a fancy higher speed bluetooth-like technology (“Ultra-Wideband Technology” dontchaknow!) rather than Wi-fi it does represent some interesting ideas about the way things could go. Just not needing all the cables and whatnot would be good.

Belkin announces its new CableFree USB Hub, the industry’s first
USB Hub that does not require a cable to connect to the computer. This
Hub allows people to place their laptop anywhere in the room while
still maintaining wireless access to their USB devices, such as
printers, scanners, hard drives, and MP3 players. This is the first
UWB-enabled product to be introduced in the U.S. market.
