I was happy at first with the print quality and ease of use BUT (and it's a MAJOR but!) you might not ever get paid. I still have not received checks from last year!!! I was told by someone that they owe thousands of people checks and are not paying them. DO NOT USE THEM!!!! Customer service is terrible and no one gets back to you. I've called at least 20 times and only got one of my checks (they still owe me 3 others!). DO NOT USE!!!

I had been with Printroom since 2009 and didn't realize what I was missing out on until I switched... Printroom was consistently 3-6 months behind on paying me, and actually still owe me 5 months worth of orders! (Google Printroom profit check issues and you will see several complaints of this). I would not reccomend them to ANYONE!!! I have recently switched to Zenfolio and *LOVE* it. Much higher quality lab (MPix Pro), much better customer service, and you get paid within 3 to 5 business days of you choosing when you want your money! Printroom is i think around $20/mo. Zenfolio is $100 a year, but use my referral code N1V-EYT-1R7 for $10 off! Whichever service you choose, my best advice is dont use Printroom!!!

I did not appreciate the quality of their websites, nor did my clients (half the time could not see their faces well enough to know if they were smiling or not!) I personally found the back-end management fairly convoluted and wasted time trying to find what I was looking for. The kicker: Somehow when I changed from basic to premium, it created 2 accounts, when I went to cancel my premium account, only the classic (free) account was canceled. Unfortunately I didn't notice until $120 later... nor did I get a refund. There are FAR better options our there for the price!!

You have no way of knowing this since you don't use Printroom commercially. I posted photos in May and sold several hundred $ worth and have yet to receive a dime. Slow pay or no pay too soon to tell but I received an email weeks ago telling me how hard they were working to get my check out. BS.

I have had no choice but to take the link down and ask customers to contact me to get prints made here in San Antonio and mail them if necessary. Most of my customers are local.

I've been using a printroom.com pro acct. for nine months and I would have to give them a grade of C- or D+.

The site appears whizzy, but behind the scenes the action is slow and clunky. There are no options to download your pricelists as comma delimited or Excel files for inclusion into your own publications. I've made repeated requests to IT and they have been ignored or blown off. There have been no updates or improvements made to the look or feel of the site since joining in January.

The Pro Studio Manager software for Mac, which is used to admin your images for placement on the website, is slow and quirky. Frequent freezes and crashes. The "Send Error Reports" link is broken and has not worked since installation. There have been no updates to this software in 9 months. I can live and work with these issues.

My biggest complaint is a total lack of communications
from the company. One would think that they would be marketing the hell out of me on a regular basis; things such as wall portrait or wallet specials, proof specials, package specials, novelty items or specialty products. Nothing! How am an I supposed to promote my business when they won't make any effort to promote their products or services thru me. Years ago, when I had a film and print studio, I saw my account rep monthly and he was always offering me some kind of reprint special or discounts on enlargements or artwork. Last February, I spoke with one of their account reps once and requested that he become my studio account rep only to be informed that I was too small and he couldn't be bothered. Must be nice! I don't expect my account rep to fly out from California for a visit, but an occasional phone call or personal email would go a long way toward customer loyalty/

My account subscription runs out in January. In December (or sooner) I will be looking for a new service for my studio. I may be small but I'm growing and I'm certainly willing to pay for products and services that I can use to promote my biz. But only when my lab/partner has something to offer in return. So far, they don't.

Sorry Printroom.com but I give you a thumbs down.

Hi There,

Printroom just released new layout options for photographers to choose for their galleries. Photographers can now choose from traditional or contemporary layouts to get different looks for their sites, along with the existing ability to change colors, backgrounds etc. It's something we've known was a downside of our site for some times and we've been working hard to update them. We plan on including other options in the future.

We're also planning other changes to improve the site design and service. So feel free to take another look at the layouts and perhaps consider increasing our grade ;-)

Above all else, thanks for the detailed review. As much as it stings, it's great feedback and helps us realize we're focusing on the right improvements.

Here's some links to examples:

Contemporary - http://prmarketing.printroom.com/ViewGallery.asp?userid=prmarketing&gallery_id=880505

Traditional - http://prmarketing.printroom.com/ViewGallery.asp?userid=prmarketing&gallery_id=879981

Cheers,
