Photography Frustrations and Trying Too Hard

Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try you are just not going to get any decent shots today?

This is how I felt on the day I took this. I could see “something” in this view but I couldn’t for the life of me get a shot I was happy with. I tried six different approaches to this scene and even though I ended up with the picture featured here, it is not what I would have liked.

Sometimes I think if you are really trying then perhaps it’s not ever going to work. On the days I have felt good about my pictures everything has clicked into place. Frustrating days like these I feel like it is an uphill struggle. Perhaps on those days I should just give it a rest.

It’s the same when I get back, some days I do a little light photoshop, levels or a tiny bit of cropping, upload to flickr and done. Others, like this pic, I agonise over tiny details, worry about balance, remove bits of dirt noone else will notice, .. and then undo everything and start again.

And I do this for fun?

So this is my resolution, next time I feel this way I will put the camera away and just enjoy the walk!
