Merry Christmas, Happy New Year

Here is a word of warning for anyone thinking of taking their camera to new years celebrations – be very careful with the booze!

I broke my kit lense last night with a slight accidental tap, it was around my neck and swung into my hand as I got out of the car. A small tap really and now the auto focus .. wont.

So I have learned

  1. Always keep my camera in it’s case when not in use
  2. Don’t mix alcohol and expensive camera equipment
  3. Always have a spare general purpose lense

Luckily for item three I have my old kit lense from my Canon EOS film SLR, otherwise I would be even more miserable.

Frustrating thing is I was supposed to have been sent a load of kit well before we went away but so far no sign. I’m going to try claiming for the lense on my house insurance, it is a bit of an expensive time of year to be buying a replacement.

Thankfully I managed to get a couple of shots of the important stuff before my lense broke.

Now I am back I will be posting much more, plus if my kit ever arrives I will need to put it to good use so I will let you know how it works out.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

Wish you all happy snapping in 2006!

thats a bugger losing the dx lens as they are digitally coated and optimised for for the aps digital sensor used within the current DSLRS.

It’s my birthday tomorrow and I am really hoping that I will be receiving a 50mm 1.8F Nikkor!!!

Is it worth checking to see if you can get it fixed??? These kit lenses are kit lenses, but worth 2-3 hundred quid on their own sold speratley.

Yeah, am gonna try and see if I can claim a repair or replacement on accidental damage policy.

Good luck on the pressie old man, any particular reason the 50mm? You will have to do a review and put it through its paces :)

Why not simply send it back under warranty??

F 1.8 prime nikon 50mm lens (no zoom), it’s the classic portrait lens. I’ve started using it today and it is extremley fast. It takes fantastic indoor photographs at about 100/th of a second, and the depth of field is fantastic.

I’ll post when I have something decent, hoping to get some good pictures of Harry.
