Flickr, Theft and Fights
I have to laugh at the cheek of this guy, fascinating story. There is no way I can tell it better than Darren Barefoot describes it …
Back in February, 2006, Kris posted about a certain Kevin Corazza, who allegedly stole a bunch of photos and claimed them as his own on Flickr. Now, laughably, Kevin Corazza has sent a letter to Kris, claiming that Kris’s statements are ‘false and defamatory’.
You can follow the story at Kris’ blog and also his Flickr stream. Go Kris, give ‘em hell.

Copyright theft is really common in the online world now. I was part of an organization that believed that they could take elements from their blogger template and use it to make t-shirts to promote the website. They just didn’t get it and were like “how can you copyright something like that.”
Yup, unfortunately there are a lot of people who think if it is on the internet it is fair game. Some people do not get the distinction between “free to view” and “free for any use”. A lot of flickr users lately have been only uploading 800×600 versions of their pictures because of people using the high res versions without permission, a real shame because it degrades the experience for the rest of us.
