This article on HDR photography has been so popular I am surprised I missed it before now. Anyway it is the most in depth piece on the subject I have seen so far so do take a look if you have a spare hour!
In this Saturday morning post, I explain HDR photography with the help of some articles. This post includes step by step ways to create your own HDR images. Be advised that they can be quite hard for beginners to get interesting results. But where there is a will, there is a way! And by experimenting, you will get some good pictures. Also, remember that to see the end result, you have to get through some initial steps.
One of the nice things about the article is how HDR is not treated as a “special effect” or a passing digital photography fad but in a traditional art context. Looking through the examples you see the produced images don’t have to be of the freakish sort you often see in Flickr streams but can actually look like well exposed natural scenes.

The beauty of HDR is that you can also create these images from 1 RAW file.
I exported 5 images from RAWshooter with the following exposure compensation set -3, -1.5, 0, +1.5, +3. I then ran it through photomatix, tone mapped it, then sent it to photoshop. Photoshop curves work really well with HDR images.
This was my first attempt, the good news is that the Flickr interestiness engine just loves HDR images.
