Converting to Black and White

In a previous post I mentioned I do not take pictures in black and white, I take in colour then convert them. I use Picassa but here is a great post (or two) you Photoshop users might like.

I must admit, the results are impressive.

Right now I don’t have photoshop, when I left my job and decided to work for myself I decided I would have all legitimate software and so far I haven’t broken that rule. I need a photo editing package now my Paint Shop Pro trial has expired (I do have a license for an older version but it doesn’t handle RAW). I can’t really justify the expense of the full CS but I might look at the cut down version to see if that is any good. What is it called again? Is it elements?

How do you shoot black and white?
