British Weather plus More Motorsport Photography

One of the things I didn’t anticipate this weekend that I really should have is how limiting amateur level DSLR cameras are when combined with English weather.

I was trying to take photographs at this weekends GP Masters at Silverstone, England. The weather was against me and only came good after the main event. There were the odd breaks here and there, hopefully after I have gone through my thousands of pictures I might have one or two dramatic shots with spray flying around.

The main lesson learned though is if you are serious about sports photography you really need to pay the extra for weather-sealed bodies and lenses. Otherwise your gear spends more time in the bag than put to use.

Luckily for me, the other lesson is to go for the full weekend so at least you have your qualifying lap photographs to fall back on!
