Today’s photo was from a trip to Newstead Abbey. There was a lot to shoot in the gardens but I knew from the beginning what my choice would probably be. However I didn’t know how lucky I was going to be with the shot.
I like to shoot moving water, I like to get a little blur of the water as it flows, so my plan was to just shoot something like this

To get my shot I set the shutter to allow the water to blur a little and because of that I shot in burst mode just in case there was shake on the photo.
Upon reviewing the photos on the PC I found that not only had all the photos come out as I wished, but in one or two I had the good fortune of the water separating around the face of my subject. This is the sort of shot you could go mad trying to get, but I acquired by luck.

I was scanning in a few old photos the other day and found that (thank God) there are very few old photos of me. How many are there of you as a kid and are they embarrassing?
Here is another families project to photograph themselves over time; The Arrow Of Time

There is something nice about old rusty iron work that I could photograph for hours. This is part of an old sleeper, made into some sort of art where the wood had been carved. I liked the industrial aspects of it a little more that the carvings.

I’m not sure what sort of flower this is, I’m not your average horticulturist, but I love the way it looks. The layered colours sort or reminds me of the lollipops we used to have as kids.

This was my intended shot the the day, but on reviewing my photos I had another which I might have gone with. When I saw the shot I thought it would be perfect. Due the lighting conditions I had to do a little photoshopping on it. Since the side was so dark the original photo was a little washed out on the details of the door, so I increased the shadows and saturation to bring out the details using adjustment layers, then to bring back the detail of the window I created a layer mask. It is faithful to what I saw when I took the photo, so I’m happy with it.
The other shot was in a similar vein but I desaturated the door to bring out the colour of the lights in the keyhole.

The photo for today was a last minute attempt, so as usual I resorted to macro work.

My first picture to get 1000 views. I think I must tag my photos better. I think this one needed to be viewed large so was viewed more, where most just get view as thumbnails. That and it had ‘nude’ in the tags.

I don’t know whether this flower was dead or not. I just loved the sadness of it.

For this photo of the day I had the opportunity to take a photo of a classic of British design, a world war II spitfire. Due the fact he was a little low and moving fast it was hard to capture. Add to the fact I was set-up for shooting photos on a stage and had to quickly adjust the camera for shooting into the sky, I only managed to get a few shots and this is one of the better ones. Nice and crisp with just enough blur on the propellers for effect. I did take a lot of photos this day too, but this one was the one that stood out as unique.
